WiiCade API

Posted by Erin, the RobotGrrl on Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

I checked this page out earlier, it’s pretty cool.

From what I understand, people can create Flash games, controllable by their Wiimote.

I REALLY wish I had a Wii! Could try to interface it to my Manoi! ^^

Clutter Detector

Posted by Erin, the RobotGrrl on Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

Students at MIT came up with a software tool that measures clutter based on contrast, orientation, and colour. This way, we can hopefully use this to become more effective at performing tasks and being less confused.

I think this is pretty cool, but shouldn’t just be used primarily for maps, or user interfaces as the article suggests. Natural human instinct, if an object is in your way, find a way around it. This could be used on a robot to get out of clutter, and out of harms way. Or vice versa, it could find clutter, and clean it up for you! Wouldn’t that be spiffy? ^^

Mars is coming, RUN!

Posted by Erin, the RobotGrrl on Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

It turns out that Mars and Earth are converging. By the time they are closest to eachother, Mars will outshine every star in the night sky. Except for the sun, of course. Keep your eyes peeled around Decemberish for this marvel!

Mars

We just might be closer than you might think. ;)

10 Minute Cancer Test

Posted by Erin, the RobotGrrl on Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

Check this out.

So, they will be able to do a cheap, 10 minute test in the dental office for oral cancer.
That’s pretty cool! Undoubtedly, since oral cancer is uncommon, it’s advanced when many people are diagnosed with it… this could save many lives.

Prevention is the way to go, don’tcha think?
